Round Up & Donate Reaches More than 100 Million Donations Contributing $42 Million Directly to Charity

Sep 30, 2025

Today, we're thrilled to announce that together with our rider community, we've reached over $42 million raised for nonprofits across the United States and Canada since 2017 through Lyft’s Round Up & Donate program. Over 100 million donations, averaging just 38 cents each, have added up to real impact for causes our community cares about. In 2024 alone, Lyft riders contributed $4 million through the program.

Over the past seven years, Lyft riders have donated:

  • $11.3 million to nonprofits supporting civil liberties

  • $4.2 million to organizations focused on education

  • $3.8 million to support local communities across the country

"When Lyft launched Round Up & Donate in 2017, it was based on the simple idea that small acts of generosity, multiplied across millions of rides, could drive meaningful change,” said Jerry Golden, Lyft's Chief Policy Officer. "This milestone demonstrates the incredible power of the Lyft community. We're transforming everyday riders into community champions through something as simple as a daily commute. Lyft isn't just about getting you from point A to point B, we want to be a force for good along the way."

Expanding with New Partners

As we celebrate this milestone, we're also excited to welcome five new nonprofit partners. These additions reflect our commitment to supporting diverse causes, from jobs access to supporting veterans and rural communities.

  • Call of Duty Endowment: Helping veterans find high-quality careers after their service

  • Hire Heroes USA: Empowering U.S. military members, veterans, and spouses to succeed in civilian careers

  • National FFA Organization: Supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders and rural communities

  • Hispanic Federation: Empowering and advancing the Hispanic community through education, health, and economic opportunities

  • TAD Foundation: Supporting access to employment for the blind and low-vision community

We also recently launched the Round Up & Donate program in Puerto Rico. This initiative allows riders on the island to support three local education, arts, and community organizations.

New Data Reveals Most Generous Rider & Places

Our new data reveals a story about generosity across the map. California riders lead nationally with $6 million contributed since 2017, and West Coast cities—San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland—top the charts for participation. fascinating patterns about when and where riders are most generous.  San Francisco is also home to one of our most generous riders, Marshall Vickness, who has donated over $2,000 to environmental and LGBTQ+ causes just by taking daily Lyft rides to work. But it's not just urban centers showing up: riders in Cold Springs, Nevada; Oaklawn-Sunview, Kansas; and Teseque, New Mexico, an impressive number of rides are donated, nearly 4x the national average.

Every Ride Makes a Difference

What makes Round Up & Donate so powerful is its simplicity. Once you opt in and select a cause, every eligible ride automatically becomes an opportunity to give back. These donations have:

  • Provided job training and interview transportation

  • Supported disaster relief efforts

  • Funded educational programs and scholarships

  • Delivered meals and groceries

  • Advanced civil rights and social justice

Round Up & Donate is part of our broader Lyft Up initiative, which works to ensure transportation is never a barrier. In 2024 alone, Lyft Up provided access to millions of highly discounted or donated rideshare, bikeshare, and shared scooter rides to people in need:

  • 18,000+ rides provided for job seekers through the Lyft Up Jobs Access program across more than 30 markets in the U.S. and Canada

  • 10,000+ rides provided for food access with local partners across the U.S.

  • 100,000+ free or discounted rides during emergencies like the Los Angeles and Alberta wildfires, Tropical Storm Debby, and helping people reach safety and reconnect with family
